Abstract: Can a superior command to the conscience? Set inside a female religious tradition which for centuries answered in an affirmative way to this question, the nuns of Port Royal became rebels “proud as demons”, when they decided to say no to a document that required from them blind obedience. The History of Port Royal is indeed a history of a rebellion. The “day of the judas” and the denial of the Formulary are just the tip of the iceberg: the responsible consensus given by the nuns to the Benedettinian rules implies in itself the opposition to the rules of power. The model of an obedient nun is swept away by the obedience itself. Is it possible to apply Rossana Rossanda’s question why disobedience is woman to a monastery of the ancient regime?

Abstract: The recent process of implantation of enclosed housing estates in the style of low level condominiums in the Tarum district of Manaus causes a lack of access to the margins of the river Tarum due to the continuing existence of glebes belonging to a small number of landowners. The objective of this study is to demonstrate that the laws at different levels (national, state and municipal) contradict the local reality, which through the over tolerant powers that be contribute to the occurrence of illegal actions related to the unequal appropriation of urban nature which becomes linked to the status of this type of plot. The next step was to show how the creation of the Environmental Protection Area (EPA) and the águas do Gigante Private Reserve of the Natural Patrimony (PRNP) collaborate to the rise in the value of these enclosed housing estates that are being implanted in the area. We concluded that the EPA is being implemented too late in relation to the accentuation of the social-spatial segregation and the privatization of natural attributes in vogue, and the implementation of the PRNP becomes a valuable reserve and a restrictive element for the Alphaville because the locals will have their visiting rights and rights of use regulated and limited by the developers.

Abstract: The private land divisions popularity as a new form of housing of the upper middle class/middle class, is raising in a intense way in the west zone of Manaus, more precisely in Tarum district. We started with the analysis of one of the essential conditions for the intensification of this type of housing: the soil ownership, by a restricted number of proprietors, a very common situation in the study area, despite the fact of historical irregularities with the Certificates of Title. We follow verifying how the monopoly and the appropriation of the urban land grants many advantages and possibilities towards the agents of space (Estate Syndicators), whom use the local physical attributes (the river Tarum and the vegetation) as an additional attractive of these closed land divisions, thus obtaining huge profits, what ends up affecting the quality of the public space, therefore damaging the environment.

Abstract: L’articolo traccia un excursus volto a dimostrare come culture diverse nel tempo e nello spazio abbiano elaborato costrutti culturali simili per rispondere a bisogni analoghi. Nello specifico si prendono in esame i miti dell’ascesa e caduta dell’uomo, fondamentali per tracciare i limiti entro cui circoscrivere il nostro essere ed agire nel mondo. Uno dei più antichi, Gilgamesh, ci pone infatti dinnanzi il limite ultimo e invalicabile, la morte. Successivamente i greci hanno delineato i limiti del nostro operare alla luce dell’acquisizione della techné. Con la cristianità la caduta assume le sembianze del diavolo, col quale l’uomo moderno stipula un patto al fine di trasformare il mondo lasciandosi sciaguratamente alle spalle i limiti in precedenza accettati. Il processo culmina nella bomba atomica, violazione suprema di ogni ragionevole confine, che segna la coscienza e la memoria collettivadel Giappone. Proprio per questo è stato il paese del Sol Levante a sviluppare una serie di nuovi miti al fine di ristabilire i limiti infranti, veicolandoli tramite i propri prodotti culturali più tipici e diffusi nel mondo, manga e anime.
